Dear Sir,
As representing the Union Assurance Society of London, I beg respectfully to bring to your notice that during the fire that occurred last night in the Queens Road, the Officers found
it necessary to carry the hose into a house three doors from where
the fire occurred, and solely from the extremely defective condition
of the hose in use damage was done to the extent of $1380 by the volm
of water escaping from the hose. This is the second time I have had
to pay claims from this cause. I therefore submit it is to the
public interests the fire hose in use should be in a fit condition so
that property should not suffer from such causes.
I have the honour to remain,
Dear Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
(s$2)
Harry Wicking.
